About
About Prakruti
A free, independent platform for watching what the Earth is doing — built on public science, and honest about its limits.
Ownership
Prakruti is a proprietary disaster-monitoring and Earth intelligence platform developed by Madhusudan Kallur Purushothaman. It is made available free of charge to humans on Earth for disaster awareness, scientific exploration, and public safety.
Prakruti is an independent platform. It is not endorsed by, affiliated with, or operated on behalf of USGS, NOAA, NASA, EMSC, GFZ, JMA, IMD or any other agency whose public data it displays.
What Prakruti does
Prakruti continuously reads public data from seismic and meteorological agencies, reconciles it, stores it, and presents it in one place. Where three agencies report the same earthquake, it shows one event — and keeps all three measurements visible, because the differences between them are information, not noise to be averaged away.
It also runs open statistical tests on the astronomical hypotheses people most often raise about earthquakes, and publishes the results whether or not they support the hypothesis. So far they mostly do not, and saying so plainly is part of the point.
The principles
Never invent a number
Every figure on this site is computed from a record an agency published, or from an ephemeris. Where Prakruti has no data it shows an empty state and says so, rather than a plausible-looking placeholder. There are no sample values dressed as live ones anywhere on the platform.
Keep the categories apart
Observation, official forecast, official warning, historical record and experimental research each carry their own label and their own colour, everywhere. Experimental research is never shown in a warning colour, and never triggers a notification.
Preserve provenance
Source records are stored verbatim alongside the normalised version. Magnitude scales, wind averaging periods and review status travel with every measurement, so a value is never silently compared with something it is not comparable to.
Document what is missing
Sources that block automated access, or whose licence terms are unclear, or that simply have not been built yet, are listed with their real status. Absent coverage is visible rather than invisible.
Stay free
Disaster information should not sit behind a paywall. Every monitoring feature on Prakruti is free to use and is designed to stay that way.
Built by
Madhusudan Kallur Purushothaman
Prakruti is developed and maintained independently. It is not a product of any agency whose data it displays, and it does not speak for them.
Before you rely on it
Prakruti is a monitoring and research tool, not an emergency service. It cannot warn you, it cannot predict earthquakes, and a quiet page is not evidence that nothing is happening.
